Condition grades: new overstock, returns, scratch & dent

What each grade on our lots means, and which ones your country lets you import.

Every lot shows one condition grade. It decides what you can resell, at what price, and in several markets whether you can import the goods at all.

The grades

  • New overstock: never sold, in original packaging. The easiest grade to clear customs anywhere we ship.
  • New, packaged: apparel and footwear in retail packaging, never worn.
  • Customer returns: returned to the store. Condition varies from like-new to defective, and sets may be missing pieces.
  • Scratch & dent: new appliances or durables with cosmetic damage.
  • Mixed: more than one grade in the same lot, shown on the manifest.

Returns need a permit in many markets

Several of our markets treat customer returns as used goods. Some require a prior import license, and some ban used clothing outright. We offer returns-grade lots only to importers who hold the permits their country requires. Check your market page and ask your customs broker before you make an offer.
